Ok first... THANKS ETHAN FOR SPOILING IT!!!!! I feel bad for Claire and the fact that she is in a sense demoted. Birth, fish paste yeah no. The man is obviously Jonas' Father and the baby is Gabe. I feel bad for her especially knowing about Gabe. I think she is feeling too much motherly love and that my be discovered and they will try to release her. If Claire has her own village, hence the map, why is Gabe with Jonas in Village.

Yayyyy Claire got to finally see her baby a.k.a #36. It's pretty obvious that the baby is Gabe since it's always crying and has light blue eyes. We can also assume the care giver that knew his name was Jonas's dad. While reading I wonder why being given the assignment of birth mother is so shameful? I also wonder if Claire will come back but what will she do when the baby is assigned to a family unit? Also since Ethan mentioned the book being split into 3 sections, does that mean we will also hear more from Jonas, Kira and/or Seer?

C-sections and squeezing fish like toothpaste is a odd way to start off a book, but it sure grabbed my attention as a reader. Claire, a single female who currently works at a factory involving the hatching of feeeessshhhhh, has know learned that her child is slightly behind the others, and might have to stay another year before he can leave the nursery. This week we found out that Clarie finds her baby #36 and cannot stop thinking about him. I wonder if she will sign up at the place to be with him more often. It seems to be a big debate between if it's Gabe or Jonas. To me it seems like it will end up being jonas

Wow, I never thought that we would be getting this little background story of Gabe's and his mother's life and all. He was special and all but didn't think he was going to be like the miracle baby. I bet he's going to do something Important like Jonas did. If not, it makes me wonder why they are talking about his mother's life and what important thing she's going to do. 😯 I don't remember how he got Gabe out of the nursery but maybe it was Claire who helped Jonas get Gabe out in the book and not Feona.. She new her son was going to die and didn't want that to happen. But why would she not go with them though?

I think this is the most boring book out of the series. We also already know that the baby is Gabe so it isn't going to be much of a surprise. I think we will be able to guess almost the rest of the plot line. This is the most vivid book yet in the worst situations.

So this book goes all the way back to when Jonas wasn't a 12 yet. All of us can get the idea that baby #36 is Gabe. He has pale eyes, he whines a lot without stopping, and one of the caretakers knew what his name was! The caretaker that knew Gabe's name is Jonas' father, who else could of known Gabe's name?! I can't wait for the class to get back to the book!

Sun is pretty good so far but I think it is kinda slow. It is better than gathering blue though. I don't really know what to expect next I don't think it possible that she has too much contact with product #36 aka Gabe, otherwise she would have been in the giver. So maybe the people take her and give her to els where in other words kill her, because she was too attached to Gabe.

This week in Son, the story is still being introduced. So far in the story, the main character, Clair, has given birth to a child that is strongly suggested to be Gabe. Then, due do birth complications, Clair is reassigned to fish hatchery. She then proceeds to do a little digging and finds and meets her child.

We started reading Son and I think it's starting out pretty good. It is a very graphic book when it comes to the weird, awkward, or gross parts. Clair is a birth mother who started to visit the nursery and found the child she gave birth to. For the first year they use numbers and her child is #36 who is believed to be Gabe from the first book. I think she will get too attached to the child and try and do something but fail because obviously Gabe was with Jonas's family.

I don't think this going to be a really interesting book. We know Gabe is the baby and we already know what happens to him. Claire is really boring to, she wants her kid but doesn't try at all to take him. She should've done what Jonas did or in this book, does.

I am unsure of how to feel. I mean if I was in Claire's situation I most likely would not be able to live with myself. How can she know what the little boy looks like possibly see similarities with her own self in this child and not feel any love. I know love is not a feeling expressed in this community and she describes it as fondness but my goodness! This infuriates me. I hope she learns his name & his life, etc. if it is Gabe I hope she knows when he is taken by Jonas.

I wonder how Gabe has those pale blue eyes and yet she doesn't. I wonder how she is going to react when Gabe and Jonas run away, obviously she'll know it's her child. I bet they will try and release her because she knows about Gabe and is trying to find more information about him.

As we already know, Jonas is going to take Gabriel away from the Communtiy, but what is unknown is what Claire will do post-Jonas Perhaps she will stay put or will she attempt to follow them and have to stop, in advertly. losing them. The many cerimonial events have already taken place, meaning the Jonas will soon stop taking his pill every morning.

This book is really slow and detailed yet we know that the ceremony of 12 just happened and Jonas is assigned the receiver which happened in the first book. Claire thought she heard of the name of baby #36 which was "Abe" so we can guess that the baby is Gabe.

Claire has mentioned the people that drove the shipment boat where from a different place. This made me wonder what village are these people from? Based on the fact the baby is Gabe, this means Jonas hasn't escaped with Gabe yet meaning the events are in the past. That also means the rules are strict as before. So yeah, the book is pretty slow and that is all I have to talk about.

So this week not much has happened. So Clair has been working uneventfully at the fish hatchery. It is still being strongly suggested that number thirty-six is Gabe. The ceremony has happened where Jonas was selected to be the new receiver, once again suggesting that number thirty-six is Gabe. Not much else has happened, mostly because this is a relatively slow book.

I'm really hoping the book picks up its pace a little. Seriously, it is really boring. I'm very excited to learn what happens in part two and my previous prediction that we find out how the community was like after Jonas left is wrong since she is now on a boat somewhere else. I think it is so sweet that Marie the cook and the entire crew basically saved Claire. I wonder if that dark haired boy ;) is on the boat. If not, did she find interest in another crew member or has she been too depressed? That makes me sad how depressed she is but honestly she has every right too since she has no recollection of what happened to the two boys. One being her son and another someone she knows was or still is significant to the community. Did she black out? Did the community drug her and then dump her in the River where the boat crew found her? Did she just mentally and subconsciously block out all of that in attempt to save her pain.

Claire hasn't been taking the pills, but she must have still been seeing everything as gray because she didn't say anything about. If she starts seeing colors, then perhaps the effect consist within the boundaries of the Giver World – unless you have the power to see beyond.💗

So Claire apparently was in some sort of wreck on a ship and washed up around a village or island that we haven't heard about yet. This made me question how did the ship Claire was previously on wreck? When she washed up, Claire also didn't remember simple things such as her age, how she got there, etc. This made me wonder will Claire ever remember what happened before she washed up on shore? Hopefully the book will answer these questions.

So a lot is happening this week. Clair found out that she is different because she is not taking the pills, and she refuses to do so. She then jumps on board the ship and sails away when she finds out that Gabe is gone. Then the ship is sunk in a storm leaving only Clair. She is then picked up by the fourth village in the series and named Sea Clair. She now lives with a local woman (I gorget her name). And that's about all that's happened this week.

How they didn't have animals or color around her old community? How do they stop the people from seeing color in her old community. While Claire and Andres were building a scarecrow he made a silly face that reminded her of her son and got really emotional. how long will it be till she finds her son? and how well will she take the news when she finds him?

I also never guessed she would have to train for years to be strong enough. This is sad I don't think she will never find him, she dose not even know his name or really what he looks like. The last time she saw him he was a baby and she saw in black and white. She dose not even know what color his eyes are. All she knows is that he is a boy. I do think in the end she will find him but that's just because it is a make pretend book but if it where real she would have no chance, at least under the circumstances.

This week in Son, Claire climbed out of the village and had to make a deal with trade master which was a trade of Claires youth for the location of her son Gabe. Gabe discovered he has a gift to "veer" whatever that means and Claire stalks Gabe and Gabe sees her a lot but doesn't know who she is.

So much is happening! One; FINALLY KIRA AND JONAS ARE TOGETHER!!! Two: Claire is creepily watching her son Gabe while he works, plays, or is just hanging around. We know that he knows of her presence. I ruly wonder why he hasn't confronted her about it. It's sad that someone who was once so fit had all of that taen from her but it shows her selflessness.

They got married🙀. Man, you're gone one day and you miss like ten years. Dude didn't see that coming. I'm glad. I knew things were never going to work out with Fiona away😋

Gabe's got a really cool power to switch minds with someone, but only for a short amount of time before he becomes tired. This book connects everything from the previous books, except we still don't know who exactly this "trade master" guy is.

Claire traded her youth with the trade master to find her son Gabe thinks their is some crazy lady watching him when it is really his mom and Kira and Jonas got married and had 2 kids named from previous characters Annabelle and Matthew. Gabe also has the power to switch minds with some one with is really cool. this book ties in all the other books together which will finally end all the weirdness with all the other villages.

Kira and Jonas are together and they have like two kids. Claire traded her youth for her son. I think thats so stupid, and she isn't even near him she just watches him creepily from a distance. Out of all the other things she could've traded. If she dies before she meets Gabe I'm gonna sue.

I don't think Claire had a choice about what to trade, did she? I think trademaster just tells people what he wants when they tell him that they have nothing to trade.

So Claire traded her youth in order to see her son, Gabe. Kira and Jonas are married! So much has happened already in the book and all the loose ends of the previous books are becoming tied up. I still don't understand why Claire just won't go up to talk to Gabe, since it's creepy that she's basically stalking him. We also found out Gabe has a special power too. I wonder if later on in the story his power will play a big role? Since most of the character's powers usual have.

Son is really good. I can not wait until Claire reveals that she is Gabe's mom. I am glad that Claire climed out but I really wish the sacrifice was not her youth. How is she supposed to live with her son and watch him grow if she can't do anything with him because she is to old to even walk.

I'm really glad we stuck with this and finished the series. I'm going to miss my little story hour times with 8th graders! :-) This is just one more chance to say that I am going to miss all of you.
